The card, as it runs by hand

- The lease master and amortization tables, the list of leases expiring in the horizon, email confirmations from the business, FX rates, allocation percentages, and manual adjustments.
- What I do to it
- Wipe the prior budget. Rebuild schedules for renewals and additions. Tag manual rows versus system rows. Apply FX and allocations. Pivot into the budget strip by line, segment, and month. Produce budget-to-actual by lease, segment, and quarter.
- Output
- The strip for the planning manager, the schedules, and the assumption notes. A signed requirements and approval block already exists.

- The corporate accounting supervisor and manager sign the approval block.
- How often
- Annually, with forecast refreshes.

As a governed workflow
- Stays in code
- Amortization, FX, allocations, and the strip layout. All code.
- The AI does
- Chase the confirmations, draft the assumption notes, reconcile manual versus system rows, explain the variances.
- A person still
- The same two signatures on the same approval block.

- Source extracts, FX table used, confirmations received, sign-off.
AI does the preparation. A named person approves it. Nothing posts to the books without that approval, and every run is recorded.
Where it goes wrong
Treating it as a first automation. It is annual, large, and signed. Do the reconciliation first; do this once the team trusts the pattern.
Why it lands in a room
Every IFRS 16 lessee has it, it lives in one person's head, and the sign-off block is already a control model.
